The History of Eazy Express
Eazy Express Inc. began in 1990 with a single C.U.S. (Combined Urban Service)1
contract with Canada Post Corporation, and a staff of nine employees. From
1991 to 1995, focus was based in the Sault Ste. Marie area. We expanded
into Rural Route Mail Delivery2
and Highway Service3 with Canada
Post. In 1996, with the encouragement of Canada Post, we once again
experienced rapid growth with expansion throughout Northern Ontario in the area
of Rural Mail Delivery and Highway Service.
During these formative years, Eazy Express cultured relationships with other
companies outside of the Canada Post sphere. We connected with Avon Canada
and assisted in distributing, every three weeks, to 1300 Avon Representatives in
Sault Ste Marie, North Bay, Timmins, and Sudbury. In 1996, the Sault Star
distribution came on board - this included daily distribution of the local paper
to the dealer and carrier network in Sault Ste. Marie, as well as to various
communities outside of the city. By the end of that year, Eazy Express had
grown to employ sixty-eight full and part time positions.
From 1997 to 2000, Eazy continued to expand across Ontario. We received
Rural Route Mail Contracts in Kingston, Woodbridge, Port Colborne, Thunder Bay,
and Oshawa/Whitby. Our Highway Services expanded to include Marathon,
Missinabie, Kirkland Lake, Serpent River, and Echo Bay. Our C.U.S.
expansion took us to Amherstburg, Cambridge, Leamington, Timmins, and Woodstock.
Business with Avon Canada continued to grow as well - by including distribution
areas in London and the Golden Horseshoe, we now delivered to an additional 1500
Sales Representatives.
Recently, Eazy Express operations have, for the first time, gone outside of
Ontario. With multiple C.U.S. and Highway Service contracts in Alberta, British
Columbia, and Manitoba, we are now, truly, a Canada-wide company.
From its humble beginnings as a local business with nine full time employees,
Eazy Express has grown into a national company employing over two hundred full
and part time employees and subcontractors. Presently, Eazy Express is
represented in over 40 communities throughout Canada.
We at Eazy Express have established a very hands on personal relationship with
the local Canada Post management at every location where we operate. Our
people in their offices know that they are an extension of the Canada Post
family and are relied upon to assist whenever and wherever. Our senior
managers contact local Canada Post management on a regular basis to discuss any
local concerns or problems.
